A grenade thrown at worshipers leaving a mosque in a Somali neighborhood in Nairobi killed three people and wounded 15 on Friday evening, the city?s police chief said. The explosion was the second in the same Nairobi neighborhood in three days. Kenyan troops moved into Somalia in 2011, prompting the Shabab militant group in Somalia to vow to carry out revenge attacks inside Kenya. Over the past year, Kenya has been hit by a series of small-scale explosions, many from grenades and other small improvised explosive devices. Shabab sympathizers are suspected in many of the attacks, although the authorities have not definitively linked all of them to the group or its sympathizers. The attack on the mosque on Friday might have been a retaliatory strike against Kenya?s Somali community.
